(Disclaimer: I mean no offense whatsoever to those living in Spain, or the nation of Spain as a whole today.  That place looks like a lovely place that I would be GLAD to go to one day, even over FRANCE of all places!  Thank you.)

I know.  It's been a WAY long while since the fandom for this series carried any actual weight in the anime community, or that this series really had ANY impact on anime as a whole.  I was mainly into it for the world history aspects of it, learning all the cool facts that I wouldn't have known otherwise, and it did that AND also showcased itself as legitimately good offensive humor all around. (Prussia is especially awesome.)  Truly, the guy who made this series did LOADS of research with this series...

...Yet there's something I can't help but feel is way off about a few of the countries.  The Nordic countries up north are a TAD bit inaccurate, though we have Finland and the World to help with THAT facet.  MY issue, then... is in how SPAIN is portrayed.  Spain who, in Hetalia, is a secondary character whose material mainly revolve around Romano and co. (Okay, Italy and Romano should have been one and the same, but that's another issue altogether.) Spain being portrayed as a nice laidback guy who mainly sat at the sidelines.

...I'm sorry, but motherfucker, SPAIN IS AN ASSHOLE THROUGHOUT THE MAJORITY OF WORLD HISTORY!!!  Or at the least, HE WAS DEEPLY INVOLVED IN THESE WORLD EVENTS, TO THE SAME LEVEL AS ENGLAND AND FRANCE!!!  Do you mean to tell me, that the conflict was JUST as simple as England and France fighting back and forth against one another?  In reality, it was more a Mêlée à Trois where you had not just FRANCE at England's throat, but also SPAIN.  SPAIN was at FRANCE'S throat too.  The three hated eachother, and were vitriolic nations against one another.

For that matter, Hetalia also didn't bother to introduce Mexico as a personified nation, who'd be America's biological brother, and view SPAIN as the brother from EUROPE.  Loads upon LOADS of material could have sprung up there.

...Eh... I'm thinking about eventually making a global nationality-based webcomic of my own called Hespaña.  Germany and Prussia will still be a thing, mind.  BUT... I think having the perspective coming from Spain, rather than the ditzier Italy, should open up LOADS of eyes.  What do you guys think?

EDIT: Russia is going to be in this as well.  In all his Russian... glory.
